Transition of NSW out-of-home care services to NGO sector on track

A Communique from the Ministerial Advisory Group on Transition of out-of-home Care (OOHC) Service Provision in NSW to the Non-Government Sector has been released.

The communiqué informs that preparations are well underway for the transition of out-of-home care services to the NGO sector in New South Wales. The Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) on the transition reports that work is on track for a January 2012 commencement date.


Garry Matthews named Aboriginal Community Worker of the Year at Coffs Harbour

SNAICC National Executive member Garry Matthews has won the Aboriginal Community Worker of the Year Award 2011 in recognition of his contribution to his local Coffs Harbour community.

The award is one of three annual Grace Roberts Awards that pay tribute to individuals and organisations that make a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Coffs Harbour region (on the northern NSW coast).

New online resource for out-of-home carers

Out-of-home carers across the nation will have better access to information about government and non-government support and services thanks to a new Australian Government online resource.

The new resource was launched by the Parliamentary Secretary for Community Services, Julie Collins, in Lismore on 27 October.
