Celebrate National Aboriginal & Islander Children’s Day 4 August 2010 - order your resources now!
08 July 2010
Each year on 4 August, SNAICC encourages all those working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to celebrate National Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day (NAICD).
The 2010 theme, 'Value My Culture, Value Me' is about the need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to know they are loved and valued, and to have every opportunity to nurture and explore a healthy and strong sense of self and community.
'Value My Culture, Value Me' is also about promoting new attitudes and forging a new pathway of understanding for the benefit of all Australians. Building and improving relationships based on mutual respect, ending disadvantage for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families creates equality for all in the broader Australian community.
This year, SNAICC is distributing free to SNAICC members and subscribers a 'Launch Kit' to assist you to celebrate your NAICD event. We hope you enjoy the poster, leaflet and other contents of the Launch Kit, including stickers, balloons, temporary tattoos and a Frisbee. Others can order the launch kit by visiting www.snaicc.asn.au/publications
If you would like ideas for activities to celebrate the day, please visit www.snaicc.asn.au/children, where you can download numerous activity ideas and find out what others have done in past years.
