SNAICC to witness historic National Apology to Stolen Generations

SNAICC Chairperson Muriel Bamblett will represent SNAICC in the public gallery of Parliament House in Canberra to witness the historic National Apology from the Australian parliament to the Stolen Generations on Wednesday 13 February 2008.
The National Apology will be made by a joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Australian Senate to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were removed as children from their families and communities.
Ms Bamblett will be one of more than 100 guests, including members of the Stolen Generations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders from across the country, invited by the Federal Government to witness the National Apology in parliament.
According to the Statement by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, the invited guests will include the widow of Sir Ronald Wilson, Lady Wilson, and Mick Dodson. Mr Dodson and Sir Ronald co chaired the inquiry into the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families which resulted in the Bringing Them Home Report.
Eight commissioners from the inquiry will also attend, including Marcia Langton, Evonne Goolagong-Cawley, Professor Fiona Stanley and Mark Liebler.
Other guests include Ms Pat Anderson, co-author of the Little Children are Sacred report, Ms Faith Bandler, Ms Evelyn Scott, and many others.
