The 2009 theme for NAICD is ‘Good Child Protection – We do it better TOGETHER’

National Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day (NAICD) is an opportunity for families, community and service providers to come together socially to share, network, learn, recognise and build upon the strengths of family and community partnerships.

SNAICC members and subscribers will soon be receiving National Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day resources, including posters, brochures and Activity Kits. These should arrive at services by the week ending 20th July.

The Activity Kits will include:

♦ A sample music CD from Aunty Wendy’s Mob – ‘Growin Up Strong’ CD – singles ‘Indigenous and ‘We are Koori Kids’ see Aunty Wendys Mob website 

♦ 40 temporary tattoos & 40 stickers celebrating the strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children

♦ A range of fun activity sheets aimed to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural perspectives in learning and development

Actively supporting and promoting National Aboriginal and Islander Children’s Day in your local service and community is an opportunity to positively reinforce the value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.  Embracing and reinforcing our culture is vital to our children and young people’s sense of belonging, identity and social wellbeing.  

Let us know about the planned NAICD activities and celebrations in your local area. NAICD registration forms can be downloaded from the SNAICC website and faxed to SNAICC or you can register events online.

SNAICC members and subscribers will receive an Activity Kit free of charge.
